"It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves." ~ Sir Edmund Hillary. "I've learned that everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it."
"The day you take complete responsibility for yourself, the day you stop making any excuses, that's the day you start to the top."

Sonific SongSpot: Healing \ New Age
Sonific SongSpot: Healing \ New Age
Sonific SongSpot: Healing \ New Age
No matter where you are right now, you can start over ~ today. You have a choice to make. You can choose to keep making the same decisions and stay where you are, or you can choose to start over, and start making some changes that will move you closer to your dreams.
Morning Prayer:
Inspirer of my mind, consoler of my heart, healer of my spirit,
Thy presence lifteth me from earth to heaven,
Thy words flow as the sacred river,
Thy thought riseth as a divine spring,
Thy tender feelings waken sympathy in my heart.Beloved Teacher,
thy very being is forgiveness.
The clouds of doubt and fear are scattered by thy piercing glance;
All ignorance vanishes in thy illuminating presence;
A new hope is born in my heart by breathing thy peaceful atmosphere.
O inspiring Guide through life's puzzling ways,
In thee I feel abundance of blessing.

Who Am I?

Words
Who are you?
You can be just letters and alphabets
You can have poison arrows
You can also be of comfort to others
The glory of history
The excitement of a story
The enlightening words of Great Teachers
The confusion of misinformation
Flow through endless permutations and combinations
You don't have any intentions
You are merely words created by the thoughts of different individuals
You are the creation of different minds
You are instruments of different kinds
Hurtful words erupting in the atmosphere find their way to the vulnerable
They can stay there festering, not knowing where to go
They can stay on and on
Going in deep
Disease of the soul creeps in
My dear heart
Must you ripple to the little stones thrown at you?
Must you be stirred by words that offend you?
Must you respond to unpleasant words with negative emotions?
Must you blame others for the words they chose?
Must you give permission for your soul's hurt?
Do you need to respond to unkind words at all?
If you do, my heart,
Can you reverse the mood by responding with words of kindness and comfort?
Or is it easier to submit to self-hurt and complaint about others?
The by-product of your over sensitivity?
You alone know the secret of healing your soul
Be mindful of your thoughts

Path to Peace
Daily Prayers
Pure Land rebirth is so appealing to me
It is the direction where my heart says go
Go,
where my dreams will be fulfilled eternally
I admire the compassion of the Bodhisattvas
I admire the wisdom of the Bodhisattvas
I admire the perfect embodiment of the Bodhisattvas
To be among such company,
To be able to learn from such highly evolved beings
To eventually become as one of them
This is my daily prayer
I look forward to the day
When I can fully realize
The mysteries of all universes
The mysteries of life and death
This is my daily prayer

The Konark Sun Temple (also spelled Konarak) is
a 13th-century Hindu temple dedicated to the sun god. The temple is known for the exquisite stone carvings that cover the entire structure which takes the form of a huge chariot for the sun god Surya, with 12 pairs of stone-carved wheels and a team of seven galloping
horses (only one of which survives intact).
The Konark Sun Temple is the most popular tourist destination in Orissa and has been a World Heritage Site since 1984. It is located in the village of Konark, which is 35km north of Puri on the coast of the Bay of Bengal.

Asian unity has a long way to go to match Europe

It is not fair to compare the integration of European countries with what has been
going on in Asia because of the differences in history, religion, culture and diversity.

Life
Let me but live my life from year to year,
With forward face and unreluctant soul;
Not hurrying to, nor turning from the goal;
Not mourning for the things that disappear
In the dim past, nor holding back in fear
From what the future veils; but with a whole
And happy heart, that pays its toll
To Youth and Age, and travels on with cheer.
So let the way wind up the hill or down,
O'er rough or smooth, the journey will be joy:
Still seeking what I sought when but a boy,
New friendship, high adventure, and a crown,
My heart will keep the courage of the quest,
And hope the road's last turn will be the best.

The Dalai Lama speaks during a news conference in Seattle, April 13, 2008.
"Since we have our own unique cultural heritage, including our language,
our script, these matters should be in the hands of [Tibetans who know]
about our culture, about our religion." ~ The Dalai Lama
Dalai Lama is a Mongolian title, which means "Ocean of Wisdom". "Dalai" means "ocean" in Mongolian, and "Lama" (bla ma) is the Tibetan equivalent of the Sanskrit word "guru", and is commonly translated to mean "spiritual teacher".
"The Wisdom of the Heart"
from the 14th Dalai Lama
Nobel Peace Prize Laureate (1989)
1. Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.
2. Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.
3. Sleep is the best meditation.
4. Spend some time alone every day.
5. We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves.
6. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
7. We can live without religion and meditation, but we cannot survive without human affection.
8. Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.
9. If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them.
10. The ultimate authority must always rest with the individual's own reason and critical analysis.

Pursuit of Perfection: The World of Tradition and Craftsmanship

Many of Japan's precious crafts--ink sticks, brushes, tea whisks, cabinetry, small swords, and fans--lie in the hands of their last surviving practitioners. These master artisans leave nothing to chance to create items of consummate beauty. Here, two such masters collaborate for the first time with top European artists.

Global warming hastens arrival of springtime. Effect of seasonal timing changes on plants and animals and this worries biologists.
The checkerspot butterfly disappeared from Stanford's Jasper Ridge preserve because shifts in rainfall patterns changed the timing of plants on which it develops.
The changes could push some species to extinction. That's because certain plants and animals are dependent on each other for food and shelter. If the plants bloom or bear fruit before animals return or surface from hibernation, the critters could starve. Also, plants that bud too early can still be whacked by a late freeze.

The title Buddha means `enlightened one';
it is from a Sanskrit word meaning `awake',
or `perceived' or `known'.
